Important: The Vaccine Bubble

Dear Members,

In addition to extending existing Covid-19 preventative measures up to 3 February, which includes the closure of golf courses and other sports and recreational facilities, as well as the 6pm restaurant dine-in ban, the Government has announced plans to bring forward the expansion of the vaccine bubble – the requirement for people entering certain venues, including restaurants and sports premises, to have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Although the new implementation date has yet to be revealed (it was originally intended to be 24 February), it is important that all members are fully aware that the vaccine bubble requirement will soon apply to everyone who visits Deep Water Bay and Fanling, whether they are members, guests, visitors or staff.

Vaccine Bubble Requirements

  • Only those who have been vaccinated with at least one shot of Covid-19 vaccine will be allowed to access Club premises.
  • Vaccine certificates will be checked by our staff upon arrival at both the Deep Water Bay and Fanling clubhouses.
  • To ensure a smooth checking process, it is highly recommended that all members and guests scan their vaccine certificates into their LeaveHomeSafe app beforehand or have your paper vaccination certificate ready available with you.

Exemptions

Our understanding of the vaccine bubble is that those who have a valid medical exemption and children under the age of 12 will be exempt from having to show a vaccine certificate upon entry.

  • However, those members and guests who have a medical exemption will need to produce the relevant documents attesting to that exemption.
  • Such exemptions are subject to final government direction.

Club staff will have the authority of the General Committee to decline entry to anyone who refuses or is unable to comply with the above requirements, and we ask all members for your understanding when undergoing these checks.

Please note that details and requirements of the vaccine bubble may change following the Government’s formal confirmation. We will update members on these arrangements, including the implementation date, as soon as is practicable.

Thank you very much as ever for your attention and support during these challenging times and we hope to see you at the Club soon.
