The Hong Kong Golf Club is at the forefront of growing the game in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Golf Club is committed to the growth of the game in the territory and has played an instrumental role in the development of young Hong Kong golfers for many generations.
At a grassroots level, the Club has been especially active in the Sheung Shui and Fanling communities. As part of an ongoing programme to introduce golf to children in the local area, the club’s golf professionals provide instruction to students as part of each school’s physical education curriculum.
Furthermore, the Club is a supporting partner of the Hong Kong Golf Association’s ‘Golf For Schools’ initiative, which was launched during last year’s Hong Kong Open. Golf For Schools gives children aged six to 12 the chance to try golf at school through a fun and unique training system called ShortGolf.
For both programmes, the Club provides access to its facilities to those children who have a desire to experience golf at a more advanced level. It is the Clubs’ hope that through encouragement and increased playing opportunities these young players can go on to represent Hong Kong on the international stage.
At an elite level, the Club has forged a close relationship with the Hong Kong Golf Association, the national sports association for the game in the city, and provides free and extensive use of its courses and practice facilities, including the driving range and short game area, to members of both the HKGA’s National Squad and Junior Development Programme.
On the back of this relationship, young Hong Kong golfers have in recent years achieved significant success in prominent international tournaments, both in team and individual formats, and the HKGC is proud to have played its part in these players’ development.
The calibre of Hong Kong’s young golfers is at an all-time high and the Club looks forward to helping facilitate the potential of future generations for many years to come.
